THE CHOCOLATE DREAM

The Chocolate Dream is Luker Chocolate’s sustainability initiative, and we’re proud to be one of only two ‘Chocolate Dreamers’ in the UK. Think of it as an emerging mark of ethical chocolate – a sustainability initiative growing in recognition, with transparency and traceable impact built in from the start.

But here’s what makes it different: it’s not charity, and it’s not just a logo. The Chocolate Dream is built hand in hand with cocoa-growing communities across Colombia, creating real, shared value at origin. It’s built on three pillars: supporting communities, protecting the environment, and empowering cocoa-growing families. We are part of it, because sustainability isn’t just a nice-to-have anymore – it’s our responsibility.

Through The Chocolate Dream, over 4,300 cocoa-growing families are supported, with more than 1,300 families seeing increased incomes. Over 12,400 hectares are now under positive environmental practices, and more than 2,000 children benefit from educational programmes. The initiative works with over 15,000 farmers across Colombia through collaboration with 64 cocoa associations, providing hands-on support that makes a genuine difference.

Chocokids

Being a Dreamer means we’re part of something bigger than chocolate making – we’re part of a community transforming lives.

In 2023, we helped launch ChocoKids in Tumaco, Colombia. One of Colombia’s most conflict-affected regions, drug trafficking and armed violence have created enormous challenges for families in this region. The lack of economic opportunities has historically drawn young people toward illegal activities and armed groups. ChocoKids was created to offer a different path – a dedicated programme that gives children aged 8-17 a safe, creative space to discover cocoa through their cultural heritage. Over six months, they learn through games, planting, and local traditions, connecting with agriculture, the environment, and most importantly, their roots.

It’s about more than cocoa education. ChocoKids builds values, community and respect, keeps cocoa alive for the next generation, and strengthens cultural roots in Tumaco. The result? More creative, active, and confident young people who see cocoa as a path to opportunity and pride for their future – rather than the violence that has plagued their region.

Since 2023, the programme has reached over 300 young people to date. And with your support that number will keep on growing.
