Chocolate Toffee Apples

Chocolate Toffee Apple Recipe

It’s time for a spooky treat as halloween approaches! These chocolate toffee apples are super tasty, and really look the part for a halloween party or ‘trick or treat’ gifts! After trying a typical toffee apple recipe; we decided that due to the hot toffee, this wasn’t the best to do with children; however, with the addition of chocolate dipping, they can join in at the end with the best bit! You could also try dipping in sprinkles, or adding food colouring for even more halloween fun.

Chocolate Toffee Apples Recipe

  • 200g Sugar
  • 50ml Water
  • 2tbsps Golden Syrup
  • 4 Green Apples
  • 300g White Chocolate
  • Lolly sticks (or metal skewers that you can remove later)

  • Line a tray with baking paper (ready to put the apples on).
  • Add the sugar and water to a small saucepan, and heat on a medium-high heat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture starts to bubble. Try and avoid stirring with a spoon; use the pan the swirl the mixture around – but if you think the mixture may be sticking, don’t be too worried about using the spoon – you don’t want the mixture to burn!
  • When ready, add the golden syrup and continually stir with the spoon. Keep an eye on the temperature with a thermometre, and once it reaches 150 degrees c, your toffee is ready to go (at the cracking stage).
  • Put a lolly stick into an apple, and whilst keeping the toffee on the heat, dip your apple into the sauce, covering the it completely. Then, take the apple out and pop it straight onto the baking paper. Repeat this until you have done all 4 apples.
  • Pop the apples in the fridge and allow to cool (it won’t take long). Whilst they cool, melt the chocolate in a bowl.
  • Take your apples out of the fridge, and dip them one by one into the while chocolate. This bit is for the children; if you want to, dip again into a tub of sprinkles; or you can even add food colouring to your chocolate!
  • Add the apples to the fridge again, and allow the chocolate to set. Your chocolate toffee apples are now ready!
